This is a great dvd collection. We ordered it after my 2 year old granddaughter saw an old cartoon on tv of Tom & Jerry and loved them. She laughs out oud and really likes it. We watch it several times each day!!!

Although it would make perfect sense only to write a review of what is released on the disc and what it is not, I would only say that most of these historical DVD packages have taken a lot of care to give fans their due. By not releasing two cartoons, I have avoided buying as I am not a huge fan of the series, and feel like I wasted my money on marginal cartoons (WB cherry picked Vol#1&2 in which I have) that does not complete the series.

When I first read most of the bad reviews this Collection received I was reluctant to buy it but I am very glad I did.

I grew up watching Tom & Jerry and just have to say that I love this collection Vol. 3 and Vol. 2. It reminded me of my childhood days and my children love it and we watch it over and over again. I know times as changed but this censorship…..come on!

Besides this issue, I chose to ignore it and I am glad I purchased it for me, for my remembrance and for my kids.

Today in day the cartoons and video games that exist can not be compared to any of the cartoons of my days e.g. Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, He-man, She-Ra, Thundercats, Smurfs, Gem, etc.

Everyone has their own opinion of this collection but I love although the voice for Mammy has changed and is not like the original cartoons. Besides all this I just have to say ….I love it.

This whole tape worked like a drug on our then-2 year old, who otherwise had a lot of anxiety over bedtime. (We did skip the “Nightmare in My Closet” segment for a long while, though.)

Regarding the New York-centric comment from one reviewer, I never even noticed this, really, & I’m from TN/NC/VA; a number of the kids interviewed are actually from Durham, NC.

What the kids have to say is almost always sweet and insightful (there is one precocious girl featured in one segment who seems to know/think that what she’s saying is really deep, but apart from her, these kids are all beautifully honest and innocently wise). Our kids (now K-6) could watch this every night, and so could we.

I agree with other reviewers about the emphasis on monsters, nightmares, and creepy child interviews that are abrupt and interrupt the flow of the “Sleepytime” stories. My child had a hard time relating to the children, and I wish there was a way to skip over the interviews. I can’t stand the interviews. I think the Scholastic series is better, just the stories, none of the annoying fluff.

Not the FULL True Story

I, like others, am a bit disappointed. I knew little about Alexander the Great, other than that he had conquered and created a vast empire. Now I only know a little more military history after watching this documentary.

I feel like this documentary doesn’t tell the real reasons Alexander is considered a GREAT. What about the social impact his conquests had? How did he affect the world in a longstanding sense? His vast empire was split up and dissappeared upon his death, so according to the limited information this long video shows…why is he Great?

From a bit of reading since watching this video, I have found that he wasn’t great just because he was an awesome military leader…but because of his policy after the battle!

Once again, the History Channel focuses too much on the “football game history” (which is okay if all you care about is how he beat up on the world) and not on the real historical impact of what the military conquest achieved!

NOT Closed Captioned nor Subtitled

Contrary to what is listed here at Amazon, the True Story of Alexander the Great is neither closed captioned nor subtitled. This was a total waste of money for me and I will have to give it a low rating as I could not hear what was being said.

I read the book before buying the movie,its a little different.This is a good story with great scenes and scenery.Its from a typical great Nora Roberts book.Montana is beautiful country and it makes you want to be there, there is mystery, murder and mayhem in this story..

This movie actually had decent actors. I think that should be addressed first and foremost. Most of the time when a romance novel is turned into a movie who ever decides to put it on screen usually casts attractive people with limited acting ability.

That can no be said about this movie. The actors are pretty and seem to have acting capabilty. *gasp*

I was a bit disappointed that the movie strayed so much from the Nora Roberts novel, but I can pretty much seperate the two and see each has its own creative merits. Lifetime didn’t screw this one up.
